Question 1

How do I request a stay, and when is it confirmed?

Accepted Answer

Open the stay, choose ‘Send a request’ and enter your dates, number of travellers and message. Your request goes directly to the host, who can accept, suggest an alternative or decline. It is not a booking yet: your stay is confirmed only after you agree on the dates, price and terms.

Question 2

Do I need an account to send a request?

Accepted Answer

No. You can send a request with your name, email address and message without creating an account. The reply arrives by email; also check your spam folder. With an account, you can follow your requests in ‘My trips’. Your dates can still be flexible: explain this in your message.

Question 3

What fees does Ardenescape charge?

Accepted Answer

Searching and sending a request are free. Hosts list for free, without a subscription or booking commission. You pay the agreed rent and any additional stay costs directly to the host; Ardenescape does not charge a service fee.

Question 4

Is the starting price the total price for my trip?

Accepted Answer

No. The displayed nightly rate is a starting price. Rates may vary by season, day of the week and length of stay. Check any listed additional costs, such as cleaning, pets or a security deposit. Before agreeing, ask the host for the final total price and what it includes.

Question 5

Are the free dates in the calendar guaranteed?

Accepted Answer

The calendar shows information entered by the host or shared through an external calendar. Connected calendars are checked every 30 minutes, not in real time. A free date is therefore not a guarantee: the host always confirms whether your dates are still available. Also check the stay’s minimum number of nights.

Question 6

How do payment and the security deposit work?

Accepted Answer

Ardenescape does not process payments or hold security deposits. Agree directly with the host on the amount, due date, recipient and conditions for returning a deposit. Get written confirmation before transferring money.

Question 7

What exactly does ‘Verified stay’ mean?

Accepted Answer

The listing has been reviewed and approved for publication. This does not mean we have inspected the property in person or verified the host’s identity. The label is not a quality, availability or booking guarantee.

Question 8

What can I do if the host does not reply?

Accepted Answer

There is no guaranteed response time. Check your messages and spam folder. If you do not receive a reply, you can send a message in the same request or contact another host. Without the host’s agreement, your trip is not confirmed.

Question 9

Can I change or cancel my stay?

Accepted Answer

The host’s cancellation terms apply to your agreement. Read them on the stay page and confirm any charges or refunds before agreeing. Discuss a change or cancellation directly with the host; Ardenescape does not cancel bookings or issue refunds.

Question 10

Where can I find pet rules, facilities and check-in details?

Accepted Answer

The stay page shows facilities, house rules and arrival information provided by the host. Check whether pets are welcome, possibly on request or for an extra fee. Self check-in with a key safe is only available when listed for the stay. Ask about anything important before agreeing.

Question 11

What is a Nature Spot, and what is allowed there?

Accepted Answer

A Nature Spot is an offered private place for, for example, a tent, campervan or motorhome. It is not a general permission to camp in the wild. Allowed vehicles, facilities and site rules vary by place. Read the listing and ask the host what is permitted, especially concerning fires, toilets and arrival.

Question 12

How do I list my own stay on Ardenescape?

Accepted Answer

Go to ‘Become a host’, create an account and add your stay with photos, location, starting price, facilities and house rules. Your listing goes online only after approval. You manage your offer and decide on requests, rates and agreements with travellers.

Question 13

Can I connect Airbnb, Booking or Smoobu?

Accepted Answer

Yes, using your calendar’s private iCal export link. Add it under ‘Availability and calendar’ for your stay. The connection imports occupied periods and is checked every 30 minutes. It is not a full channel manager integration: prices, messages and payments are not synced, and double bookings remain possible.

Question 14

Who do I contact about a problem or suspicious listing?

Accepted Answer

First discuss issues with the stay or your agreement with the host. For a technical issue, suspicious listing or privacy question, contact Ardenescape at info.ardenescape@gmail.com. Include the stay’s name or link and explain the problem. Do not share passwords or payment card details. Ardenescape does not provide payment protection or a booking guarantee.
